METODO SIMONCINI CATALOG RECEIVES
THE XXVI PREMIO COMPASSO D’ORO – HONOURABLE MENTION AWARD

Among all products of the best of Italian design presented on September 9 at the new ADI DESIGN MUSEUM, the Simoncini Method catalog and the designers Mirit Wissotzky and Manuel Dall’Olio – studio Dina&Solomon received an Honorable Mention of the XXVI Compasso d’Oro Award, the most important design award worldwide.

The catalog named as the exhibition The Simoncini Method — in search of an aesthetic whole, created by Griffo the great feast of letters in 2017 in collaboration with the Museum of Industrial Heritage of Bologna, thus enters the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI Collection, declared by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities of “exceptional artistic and historical interest”.

The design of the volume is an organic part of the exhibition’s set-up and visual identity created by Dina&Solomon studio. It was inspired by the clarity and precision typical of the approach of Francesco Simoncini and which focuses on typography flanked by photos of the era and bold colours. The dialogue between scientific content and expressive form that characterizes the catalogue is enriched by essays from type designer Antonio Cavedoni and publishing historian Elisa Rebellato which trace the entrepreneurial story of Simoncini and offer an analysis of the typefaces produced by his company.

The entire project of Griffo – the Great Gala of Letters is presented in the XXVI COMPASSO D’ORO EXHIBITION –METTERE RADICI open until September 16. The permanent observatory of Design ADI has selected Griffo–The Great Gala of Letters for ADI Design Index 2019 publication, within the category of  Theoretical, historical, critical research and publishing projects.
